My first contribution to the comm - hopefully the first of many!

This is part of my Connection series, in which Jack Harkness and Rupert Giles met up during S6 of Buffy (pre-series for Torchwood) and have been using kinky sex to comfort each other (and occasionally just for fun!) ever since. (This may actually be the first that doesn't have any sex in, actually!)

I'm afraid this particular story is rather more Torchwood-based than Buffy-based, but hopefully will still work for readers here who aren't familiar with Jack and all the dreadful things he went through during Children of Earth!

It's been one year since the last installment and all I was able to churn out was one chapter. How are you, writer's block and multiple story ideas? I think the initial layout of the first part really confused me and like the game Jenga, the entire idea came falling down around me. I also had the fight of canon vs. what I've already put out there: the story is set in Westbury but in season 6 Giles says that he lives in Bath. GAWWWWWWD indecision. So I'm going to sit with this for a while longer but if you come back to this story at anytime and see Westbury has been changed to Bath - that's on purpose.

Title: Ripper

Summary: After the destruction of Sunnydale, the defeat of the first and the aftermath of the destruction of the Watcher's Council, Rupert Giles, the Scoobies and the Slayers return to England. Over 2 years later, the Watcher, living in his family home outside of London, is visited by an old ally, sent to aid him in the fight against evil.

Note: This story takes place 2 years after the events of Chosen and over a year after the events of Not Fade Away. Everything that happened during the run of both Buffyverse shows are canon. BtVS season 8, is not. Not for this story. This story is an AU that negates the events of the comics, though there are some elements that will be. The characters of the Fairweather sisters are prominent characters in this series. FCed by the Head sisters because a) I love Emily Head since she started in Emmerdale and b) I had her as a similar character in a different story but when I heard Joss's plans for the Ripper series I made some changes. This story is a work of fanfiction. Prominent characters belong to Joss Whedon. Though the Comics aren't a part of my universe (though I do still love them) because of certains actions taken by certain vampires against certain watchers, there are elements of the comics, especially season 8 that I will be using: little tidbits that such as the direction of characters since the end of the shows. Any chapter that contains any comic information will be noted in the chapter notes. I will also note any OCs. My head is a little fuzzy and my math is worse so if there's any confusion on timeline or anything at all call me up on it and feel free to ask :)

Although, compared to the grinding, almost mechanical noise of the last number (with lyrics as deep as half full and half empty glasses, no less), this monotonal soliloquy (backed by the comparatively subdued thrum of drums and guitar) was an almost physical relief. On stage, the band members continued to throw themselves about as if in a state of religious ecstasy. For them, it probably amounted to that. )

Hi all!
Before I get to my first ever contribution to Summer of Giles, I would like to thank all other creators. I haven't caught up with everything yet, in particular the fic, but I have enjoyed what I've seen so far.

I don't really ship Giles with anyone, but I do have a favourite Giles pairing, and that is Giles/tea! I love both dearly, and together they're the best. So, I've made a bunch of Giles/tea icons. I hope you'll like them!

If the flames reach the science lab, the whole place could go up.” “But Cordelia—!” “—is either clear of that area or dead,” the Fire Marshall cut him off impatiently. )

( “Buffy,” Giles tried appealing to her one more time, “you must believe me, I never intended any of this—” “Oh, I believe you,” Buffy assured him in an even, almost friendly tone in which he could detect no trace of sarcasm. “It's not you; it's the hotel. You're just the caretaker.” “What?” Giles knew he was missing something, but he honestly didn't know what it was. Buffy didn't seem as if she'd gone mad, just the opposite. The Slayer rolled her eyes and heaved a sigh as she started shoving an amazingly large wheeled book case towards the swinging doors to the main hallway. “Uh... It's a literary reference(?)” she replied with exaggerated sarcasm. “Geez, who's the librarian here, you or me?” )

Finally, they had agreed to let fate decide, positioning Watchers and staff in each of the likeliest places. And though it had barely made the list at all, though it had been assigned only a single Watcher whose questionable past had kept him in the worst, least important assignments throughout his career, fate had sent Buffy to Sunnydale.
