Summer of Giles

Hullo!

Summer of Giles is definitely happening again this year. I've decided to go with a free-for-all format rather than booked days. The doors will be opened on 1 July until 31st 2025.

Usual rules apply about not completely spamming the community. I'm also adding a ban on the use of AI generated content.  If I see it, or am alerted to it, I will delete it immediately. 

Thank you to everyone who has already expressed an interest for this year. I'm looking forward to reading and seeing everything. And, fingers crossed, I might even be able to write something myself. Who knows?

Many thanks to everyone who posted works this year. I'm actually touched that so many people participated. The comm is now closed and I will work on getting a summary out in the next few days.

Many thanks to the people who've asked about Summer of Giles this year.  I don't have the spoons to moderate a full month but I am proposing we shrink the festival to the last two weeks in July. To that end, I'd also like to make every day free-for-all so no signups are required (you will still need to be a member to post in the comm).

Currently the comm is locked for posting for everyone but I will open it up from 17th July 2024 until 1st August. 

The usual rules about courtesy to others will still apply of course. The limit of three posts will still apply. I will do a roundup post sometime in the following week as best I can. 

I know this reduced service isn't what we're used to, but with dwindling numbers I hope this is acceptable to everyone who is still interested. 

Let's make this the best, possibly last, great summer to appreciate our Rupert!

Once again, Summer of Giles will be running throughout July, celebrating all that is the sexy librarian. Our sign-ups will open on 1st June so dust off your creativity caps and lets give our favourite Watcher a month to remember.

Especially if you want to get your toes wet for the first time in making something fandom related!

How To Sign Up:

So, you'd like to join and do something (fic, icons, headers, drabbles, vid, meta) for summer_of_giles ? YAY! We're happy to have you!

1) Just check out the master list calendar to see which days are open.

We are allowing two people to sign-up for every day (so don't be afraid if your chosen day already has a name).
We are also allowing each person to sign up for up to THREE days if you want to. (Just 3 though, ok?) You *do not* have to sign up for three days - one is great!

This year we are also accepting email sign-ups for users who aren't on dreamwidth but wish to participate via tumblr. Our email address is summerofgiles @ gmail dot com.

2) Comment to this post or email summerofgiles @ gmail dot com with the following information:

Do you want a second day: Yes / No
If yes, 2nd Preferred posting date:
