Death doesn't really work as planned on a Hellmouth, Giles knows that better than most. It still throws him for a loop sometimes, but he'll learn to live with it.

(Or, Giles deserves a cat and Patches deserves better than to be a one-episode Pet Semetary shoutout, poor thing.)

Summary: He has his mother's eyes and his father's chin and his grandmother's legacy, and each one comes with a name that doesn't quite fit.

(Or: Alphamikefoxtrot and I were tossing around fancast ideas, decided Gong Yoo would make a great Giles, and then thought too much about how Giles's story and character would be impacted if he wasn't, in fact, a Posh White Brit™. Obviously, this was cause to write yet another Giles backstory AU fic because I'm nothing if not predictable.)
