Well, my lovelies, we have made it to the last round up for this year’s Summer of Giles. Our Watcher has been on quite the ride this summer and he continues to experience all the love this community has for him.

This week in fic, Giles started off on a dangerous adventure to save Jenny in a season 2 AU enlisting Ethan for help and reluctantly accepting help from Xander, then, in the next story he found the beginnings of love with Joyce after performing at The Espresso Pump’s open mic night, next he explored his unrequited love for his Slayer over the seasons and beyond. He found resolution and redemption in the final installment of The Chronicles of Ripper: Guilt. In a suspenseful story, Giles finds himself up on Dartmoor as a child of eleven experiencing his first encounter with the supernatural; and in another story, at the conclusion of Chosen, Giles finds himself tending to Buffy as she begins to suffer the effects of blood loss from the stab wound she received at the hands of a Turok-Han during the final battle. And last but not least, our Watcher sits down to a naughty luncheon with the junior Watcher from season 3.

In art, our lovely and talented artists submitted wallpapers: one of Giles and Buffy, another of a young Giles and Jenny, and the last of Giles and Oz, with Oz following in Giles’ footsteps.

And finally we were treated to a lovely fanvid of Giles and Buffy trying to work it out during season 7.

Sorry I am late with the round up post. I was away this past weekend and was unable to hop online. As such, I am going to do one that includes everything posted in the last week up until today.

This past week (and a few days) we were treated to a variety of fanfic, fanvids, and fanart!

In fiction, Giles and Xander bonded while going to the mall to get new running shoes for Giles and see a movie, we were treated to a set of haikus exploring Giles’ inner musings during certain episodes, a doctor from the hospital had some insights regarding Giles and his relationships with his friends and his role in Sunnydale, Giles and Willow grapple with their mutual attraction during the events at Lowell House in an AU of Season 4’s Where the Wild Things Are, and we got a glimpse of what happened on Giles’ first day at Sunnydale High.

Two fanvids were submitted this past week, the first is an AU where Giles falls in love with a young student and then leaves Sunnydale for a teaching position at the Watchers Academy to avoid temptation, and the second was a general fanvid exploring Giles and the Scoobies’ adventures in Sunnydale.

In art, we had a wallpaper showing the many faces of Rupert Giles, another wallpaper depicting Giles during Season 4’s Restless, and finally a sketch of season 1 Giles and Buffy.

Whoa! Looks like the authors had all the fun this week at Summer of Giles! The week started out with a series of haikus reflecting Giles’ experiences through the seven seasons, then we were treated to another episode in a longer running series that puts Giles in the role of the big bad during season one! Next Giles tries to convince Buffy that nothing is wrong while trying to placate Willow with regards to a new prophecy in the next chapter of Unholy Savior. The fourth entry tugged at our heartstrings in a tender story that has Buffy tending to Giles in the final stages of illness. No less heartbreaking was the next story, which finds Giles mourning the death of his Slayer in an AU that had her killed during the events of Becoming Pt 1 & 2. The last offering this week gave us a little something, something between Watcher and Slayer as he offers her an escape from the monotony of her Council dominated life in a post series setting.

Another week has past and another week of lovely fanworks have been created celebrating our wonderful Watcher. In fic, Giles traveled back in time to the Scoobies senior year and bonded with them to prevent a catastrophic event in the comics canon future, he also spent time researching with Willow and made an important decision concerning a threat to the gang, in another story, a new prophecy concerning his future made an appearance and he is currently knee deep in research, and lastly, he came to an understanding with Oz with regards to the werewolf’s departure. We were also treated to ten lovely icons and a wallpaper commemorating the heartbreak that was Buffy’s sacrifice at the hands of the Master.

As a gentle reminder, please contribute to the care and feeding of our lovely authors and artists. A lot of hard work goes into creating fanworks and dropping them a note of thanks and encouragement is the least we can do.

Hello and welcome to the 3rd weekly round up here at Summer of Giles. This week saw a lot of art for Giles. A glimpse of his Ripper years were featured in a comic. We were treated to two lovely manips reminding us of Giles the Watcher. We were also treated to a set of lovely icons and banners to decorate our social media presences and laptop backgrounds. We were also treated to several lovely fics, one with Giles bonding with his Slayer for early morning research in the wake of an impending apocalypse, another finds him at Sunnydale’s unemployment office in the wake of the destruction of the high school, and finally we find him once again in the company of Ethan Rayne, beneath the Cathedrale de Saint-Lazarre in Paris before things soured between them.

What another wonderful week here at Summer of Giles!

This week in one fic we got a glimpse of Giles' youth and his road to becoming an active Watcher, and in another, he had to go out and find his Slayer who managed to get herself lost in London after getting frustrasted dealing with retired Watchers from the old guard. In art, Giles and Ethan became one, and he was so worried in a vid. We also got to help Giles save the Scoobies from a haunted house and match his words to the proper episode and then find the episode names in a word search.

Well, Summer of Giles has kicked off with a bang! We mods hope that everyone is enjoying it so far.

This last week and a half has seen Giles meet up with his old frenemy Ethan post Sunnydale apocalypse and ask for his help in two very different stories, comfort a brokenhearted Willow, fight with his father and seek out Ethan in a pre-series tale, and find a soulmate after Xander unleashes a spell in the Magic Box. He also features in a fix it piece for the final four episodes of season 7 (if only), discovers immortality and embraces his destiny after several centuries of adventures and trying to find his way, and is the centerpiece of a beautiful wallpaper from Once More With Feeling.

It's been fic city this week. We've learned that 'because it's there' is sometimes a poor judgement call. We've watched investigations into Giles as the big bad of season one continue. We've seen the results of Ethan's portal magic bringing a man named Reg to Buffy's life. We've been totally bemused as Giles and Willow's phones are ready to take a big commitment step. We've smiled and enjoyed a simple christmas night with friends. And had The Feels as the Watcher marks time without his Slayer.

LJ gave us some grief this week but we had some lovely work. Please feedback and thank our contributors. In fic we speculated how things might have been if only Buffy had opened up to the right person. We also witnessed more hokey pokey in the desert as Giles and Buffy performed the ritual to reconnect his role in her life. We also had more games, some great manips and a collection of lovely tea based icons.

And we're into July and the awesome just keeps coming! Please shower some love on our contributors, don't make Mr Giles break out the chainsaw.

In one shot fic: Giles mused his own failings regarding Faith, and dreamed of dangerous pleasures with someone unexpected. We saw he doesn't know real life anymore, except it should be raining. We learnt Giles and Anya have a system but it's a bit hit and miss. We saw what a watcher does on his night off and we watched as Giles and Anya wrestled with a puzzle, but hasn't the answer always been there?

In ongoing stories for the summer, Rupert continues to struggle against his Legacy, but is his brother really helping? In Magister, Giles and Ethan battle to save Potentials from the Bringers though I'm personally worried as to just what is the First's plan for vampire!Giles?

In Art this week we had some super formal manips, a sinister Giles who didn't turn his back on Ethan and some lovely pairing wallpapers.

And in our vid category, we watched the mayhem caused by evil!vamp!Giles and his evil!vamp!entourage. Who has the power to stand up to them and do they have enough !s of their own?
