Drabble Challenge: Busted Flush (Giles, FRC)

I'm following on from 'Giles started counting', because I had this idea for it that I just couldn't shake.

Giles started counting his winnings when the young croupier touched his elbow.

"Could you step this way, please?"

He was led through dingy corridors until he found himself outside among the garbage bins, facing a slick haired casino manager, and a number of burly gentlemen, all apparently having been squeezed into their suits after a hard day's cage fighting.

"I don't know what you did, but you will never come back here again. Understand?"

Giles nodded vigorously, and to his relief, they turned, leaving both his winnings and his face intact.

The Sunnydale survivors needed better ways of making money.

Ha! Loved this idea!! Not a bad way for a man as smart as Giles to earn some extra cash! Glad he didn't he didn't get roughed up for his efforts.

Also, I'm so glad you broke the streak because now I don't feel so bad going back and using a few of inspiring last lines from the drabbles yesterday ;-)

I very much like the idea of Giles counting cards and cheating the casino out of their money! :D

HA! Between his big brain counting cards and his penchant for magicks, I can totally see him cheating at cards for a good cause. I especially liked the cage fighting description. Very on point. Nicely done!

Thank you, yes. The original idea was to have Buffy rescue him, but alas, 100 words is 100 words. The cage fighting line made the cut instead.

Yeah, I can see Giles in a a) in a tux at a casino and b) in an underground poker ring; beating the odds. Being the poker master of the group, teaching the kids. Thanks for the thoughts.

Love the idea of Giles card counting. Trouble is, now I want a whole big story around Giles trying to find solutions to the Scoobs financial situation that led to this point. *g*

I know. Usually Giles and Willow unlock access to the Council millions and away they go. I'm quite taken with the thought they might all be scrambling for cash. Buffy slinging burgers, Xander back to the stripping...
