Summary: Many years ago, Rupert Giles made a reckless decision. Now, as Buffy Summer's new Watcher, he must face the consequences of that. But not alone. As far as Buffy's concerned, he's hers.
Notes: Slight change of plans. It turns out this chapter was ready and the fic I planned to post today was not. So I swapped them.
This chapter makes direct references to the previous chapters. Go here if you'd like to start from the beginning. I posted a teaser for this chapter two years ago, so the opening might seem familiar.

Pausing just outside the library doors, Giles sighed and prepared to meet his doom. He had been able to put Buffy off the night before, mostly out of sheer stubbornness, but he knew she would be demanding answers during their training session later today....
