The Sunnydale survivors needed better ways of making money. So, it was welcome news when a letter arrived stating that he was Richard Asquith’s sole surviving heir. He had been an elderly Watcher who had died in a Bringer attack. Giles hadn’t realized that he was related to the old goat, but, then again, most Watchers were.... He needed to talk to Willow immediately.

Between he and Robinson, they were related to most of the old Watcher families and better their money be dedicated to saving the world than go to the crown.

Now, this was an idea worth investigating.

I think they would have too! The idea is actually a modification of my headcanon about where they got the funds to re-establish themselves. I've never been able to work it into a fic directly (yet), but I like to think that all old Watcher families have it written in their wills that should they die without issue or direct decedents, all funds shall go directly to the Council of Watchers.

It was something I wondered about a lot and the only thing that made sense to me. Plus, that's a lot of family libraries that they would be able to get their hands on!

Thank you! Though, personally, I think the Giles were more likely to marry outsiders. Which means Giles was always a little rogue from the very beginning
