You are evil! *sniff sniff* I mean - great work. It's absolutely heartbreaking.
And the way how the fragment with potential slayers work with "would you know my name" line is pure genius.

*hehehe* I made my sister beta this for me and the first thing she did was call me Satan.

Sometimes, I don't think people realize just how many Giles cared for and lost over the years. I needed to make a vid that showed that. Sadly, I couldn't even put everyone in the vid.

Thank you for thinking I'm a genius, although in all honesty, I was concentrating more on hitting the 'would you be the same' line with Travers and the Watchers. But I was so happy about how well that shot of the potentials fit. Giles traveled the world trying to save those girls, no one can ever tell me he did know the name of and care for every one of them.

Made for tears, you evil evil person! So touching, and I love the flashback feel of it while he is consoling himself in a glass of whiskey or playing the guitar.

Lovely way to start my day!

I did think about Ethan and all of the old gang, there was just no footage to make that work. As I've said, sadly this vid doesn't even show all the people Giles has to mourn.

Heartbreaking but absolutely beautiful! I really liked the way you cut everything together, especially the recurring use of the Giles' strumming his guitar and the beginning and end musings.

Poor Giles, so much loss... When you put it all together like you did, it's really quite devastating.

Isn't it? And I couldn't even put everyone in. Sometimes it feels like people forget how much loss Giles really suffered in the show.

Thanks so much. One day I was listening to the song and suddenly realized how much it would fit with Giles' life. Very happy I accomplished what I set out to do. There are a lot of people Giles cared for and lost that people don't think of because another character might have been closer to them, or most don't even think of mourning, like the Watchers.

In the commentary for Helpless, Joss talked about how he wanted Travers to have a mentor relationship with Giles that kind of mirrored the Buffy-Giles relationship. He just never had time to pull that off. But I think you can still see a little in the background with the way Tony and Harris played off of each other. The Watchers were such a big part of Giles life that I think he mourned all of them. And he worked so hard to save the Potentials, he felt every one of their deaths, too.

Took me an extra read through, but I see what you're saying about the Haiku.

That wasn't Joss, it was David Fury, who invented Quentin and most of what little we know about the structure of the Council from the show, I think including the name "Watcher's Council". Which is why I thanked him psecifically in the notes to All Things Proceed From Passion, in which Quentin ifgures as a major character and the relationship between Giles and the Council in a major theme, particularly in Who Do You Think You Are?. even though there are tonns of other Buffy writers and producers I could have mentioned. And when I say invented... he wasn't even on staff. This wasn't a script Joss or David Greenwald or Marti Noxin gave him to write with the story lined out; he made this shit up and it became so instantly central to canon that I'm convinced the whole concept of the shaddow men and the relationship between the Council's 'creation' of the Slayer and her own natural awesomeness and right to choose rather than being chosen that we see in the season seven story arc results. Which means, there is also NO FIREFLY AS WE KNOW IT without David Fury having interacted with teh Whedonvere in this episode to create this character. Fury is a Major God in my Whedonvrese Pantheon.

Well, I should know better than to pull a fact out of my ageing brain around here without checking it first, shouldn't I? On the other hand, I think I just found the only other person in the world who might have a Tiny soft spot for Travers.

LOL, ya think? The headline to my orginal comment was pretty tongue in cheeck, but text is what it is. Should have used one of those doubious sarcarm marks I'm always advocating for. Sigh, oh well. Have you read Who Do You Think You Are? QT is a total villain in it... and yet, not for nothing. Plus, he has a family. There's family feels. In fact, I felt a little guilty going as dark with his character as I did, b/c I think it stretches canon, and in the same direction people tend to stretch with this character. Kind of the way they do with Hank, who I'm forever rescuing. But it suited my plot, and of course I went kind of dark with the whole Council (which you probably noticed in Blood Screaming) so I think it works.
