Fic: Hope
This is my final post of the day. I had hoped to have more, but a combination of an AWOL muse, work and illness meant that I didn't get anything else completed.
Back in 2007 and 2008, I wrote two drabbles about a future life for Giles. You can read them here.
This is the third drabble in the series.
The soft closing of the door broke the silence in the room. Rupert leaned against the wall. The next three minutes would be the longest of his life. His wife hadn’t told him about this part last time. She had only shown him the positive result. He remembered how happy he had been when she had uttered the words, “you’re going to be a daddy.” It was a simple test, follow the instructions and wait. What they didn’t say was how those three minutes felt like multiple lifetimes. The door opened, she held the test out to him. He grinned.
