Dedicated to Lily_Diablo. Thanks. For everything.

“Now, Bay City Rollers. That’s music.”

- Rupert Giles, The Dark Age.

01)    Strangers When We Meet – David Bowie

All my violence, raining tears upon the sheets.
I’m bewildered, for we’re strangers when we meet.

02)    Dark Side of the Moon (being Brain Damage, and Eclipse) – Pink Floyd

As I quite clearly stated within a couple of my SOG pieces, last year – it’s far too easy to set a Giles/Ethan piece to this. And also far too easy to let one’s imagination simply run with it. What’s more, is it encompasses everything.

And all that you love, and all that you hate…
All you distrust, all you save…
All that you buy, beg borrow or steal…
And all you create, and all you destroy, and all that you do, and all that you say…
And all that you fight, and everyone you slight…
And all that is now, and all that is gone, and all that’s to come and everything under the sun ………

03)     The March of the Black Queen – Queen

Do you mean it, do you mean it?
Why don’t you mean it?
Why do I follow you, and where do you go?

04)     You Don’t Own Me – Dusty Springfield

You don’t own me, I’m not just one of your many toys.
You don’t own me, don’t say I can’t go with other boys.
Don’t tell me what to do, and don’t tell me what to say, and please when I go out with you don’t put me on display.
Cause, you don’t own me, don’t try to change me in any way, you don’t own me, don’t tie me down, cause I’ll never stay…

05)     A Night Like This – The Cure

1985, so this one is, perhaps a touch debatable. But it’s a nice interlude, and with the semi-rock I can still hear our Watcher listening to it. And I can see it fitting Ethan, and the way he might feel about things. So, it’s here, and it’s here to stay.

I’m watching, like I’m made of stone as you walk away.
I’m coming to find you if it takes me all night, I’m reaching for another goal.
For always and ever is always for you...

06)    Behind Blue Eyes – The Who

Giles sounds so bloody sexy, singing it… LMAO. How hard is it, to picture him singing this sort of thing for the guy that wormed his way into his heart, even if only for a while?

No-one knows what it’s like, to be the bad man, to be the sad man, behind blue eyes.
No-one knows what it like to be hated, to be fated to telling only lies, but my dreams, they aren’t as empty, as my conscious seems to be…
No-one knows what it’s like, to feel these feeling, like I do, and blame you…

07)    Lovely To See You – Bay City Rollers

Lovely to see you.
I’ll never make it on my own.

08)    I Only Want To Be With You – Dusty Springfield

It doesn’t matter where you go, or what you do, I want to spend each moment of the day with you.
Look what has happened, with just one kiss, I never knew that I could be in love like this.
It’s crazy, but it’s true – I only want to be with you.

09)     This Song Has No Title – Elton John

If I was an artiest, who paints with his eye, I’d study my subjects and silent cry, cry for the darkness to come down on me, for confusion to carry on turning the wheel.

10)      High Hopes – Pink Floyd

Brilliant music to get wasted to, really. Not that I’d know, of course.

Our thoughts trade constantly, and without boundary.
The ringing of the division bell had begun…
The grass was greener, the light was brighter.
With friends surrounding the nights with wonder…
Steps take forwards, but sleepwalking back again.
Dragged by the force of some inner tide.

11)     Maybe I’m A Fool To Love You – Bay City Rollers

Speaks for itself, really.

Maybe I’m a fool to think you really care, and maybe I’m a fool to think you always will be there.
I told you that I love you so, cause I thought you might have liked to know. Maybe I’m a fool to love you, but I do.

12)     Bad Boys – Wham!

Couldn’t resist this one

Where were you last night?
You look as if you had a fight.
Where were you last night?

Well I think that you may just be right, but don’t try to keep me in tonight, because I’m big enough to break down the door.

13)    What Have I Done To Deserve This? – Pet Shop Boys And Dusty Springfield

You always wanted me to be something I wasn’t.
You always wanted too much.
Now I can do what I want to.
 Forever.

How am I gonna get through?

14)    A Taste Of Honey – The Beatles

From off the wonderful album Please, Please Me. The love that’s there is sweet, and addictive, and although it doesn’t say anything to do with it, when it sours… well, we’ve all seen this.

I dreamed of your first kiss, and then I feel upon my lips, again, a taste of honey. Tasting much sweeter than wine.

Bonus Tracks

Bonus because they came out in ’90. But I just love the lyrics, and I think it’s a good way to round the playlist off.

Lay Down Your Guns – Jimmy Barnes

Both of us need something like we had before.
We can’t keep fighting like this anymore.
This love affair is breaking my heart.

Fade To Black – Jimmy Barnes

So come on turn off the light.
There is too much to lose.
I know that I’m selfishly lost.
So give me something to believe in.

This ain’t no time to be lonely.
‘Cause there ain’t nothing here that’s left to hold me.
I can’t be brought with a handful of dreams.
And the promises I can’t believe in.
