Graphics & Drabbles: Giles & Buffy/Giles

Woo!! I've got two CSS-formatted layouts for you (compatible with free, sponsored, and paid accounts!), a couple of icons, a manip, and three drabbles! I'm not going to be breaking them all up in different posts, because I'm sure I'd likely forget. *facepalm!*

Time: Season 5

It wasn't as if he hadn't seen this image a million times before. Not in reality, no -- but in his worst nightmares. His fears, come to life, lay before him.

Buffy. Still, lifeless.

The sounds around him barely caught his attention as he walked closer, feeling as if he could do nothing but see her there on the ground. He couldn't blink, couldn't look away, couldn't close his eyes to stop the image from being burned into his memory. Everything faded into the backgound -- sniffles, whimpers, the sounds of the injured groaning and trying to move. One by one it seemed as if each caught sight of the tragedy and instantly stilled in a moment of bereft silence.

He'd been so close to death, had told her so much, and yet still hadn't told her what he wanted to say. He'd still not had the courage or strength to tell her that he loved her, and now there was no chance. Swallowing a lump in his throat, he slowly knelt and gathered the body to him, feeling the warmth already fading. With as much determination as he could muster, he stood. Cradling her against him, Giles' footsteps were a slow dirge as he carried her from the foul scene.

Time: Season 6/7

Buffy stared, lip caught between her teeth as she watched Giles.

It had become a tradition, something she'd not realized she was doing until it was too late. Watching his brow furrow, his posture slouch as he read over the ancient text; observing the way his lips twitched every now and then when he mouthed a word, how his eyes swept across the pages... Everything from the way his hand rested against his temple, to the way a piece of hair fell over his forehead. Even the way he reached up to push his glasses up his nose made her breath hitch.

Cool eyes glanced up, catching her gaze before he offered a somewhat awkward smile. "Did you find something?" he asked, obviously oblivious to the heated looks she'd been giving him over the past few minutes.

Buffy blinked, glanced back down to her own book, and shook her head. "Not yet."

Time: Post Series

There had been a soft crackling in the air ever since they were reunited. Brilliant smiles, warm hugs, laughter; it was almost like old times. All they needed was a box of pizza, and Giles bumbling about offering tea, which no one ever accepted. Years had passed and things had changed, but it was obvious that their bonds were for life -- no matter how far apart they'd grown. Most of the atmosphere was friendly and happy, but there was a slight bit of tension drifting here and there.

Dawn kept blushing everytime Xander ruffled her hair. Willow bristled each time Kennedy said something blunt and to the point. But strongest of all was the buzz the slipped between Giles and Buffy.

The evening passed on, the laughter faded into serious discussions about how life had been since the last time they were all together. Discussions faded into more laughter, which slowly but surely led to the flow of departures. Willow and Kennedy left, followed by Xander offering to take Dawn for coffee. At last, there were two, and Buffy tried everything possible to keep from saying those horrible words of goodbye.

She grinned and waved as Xander's car pulled off, then slowly turned to face Giles, trying to word it properly. Before she could speak, his arm had slipped around her waist and his lips were pressing against hers. The buzz, the crackling, the heat -- turned into a roaring fire that had been suppressed for far too long.

I hope you all enjoy!
