SUNNYDALE 9 P.M.
"Willow, I'm telling ya, we've got to call GIles," Xander said to his best friend, as he and the rest of the Scoobies watched the Slayer stare moodily into space.
"Xander it's ok. All we need to do is give Buffy some time to adjust and everything will be fine." Willow replied. But her friend just shook his head. "Giles has to be told Will, and that's that." With that Xander Harris went upstairs to make the most important phone call of his life.

LONDON, ENGLAND 2 A.M.
Rupert Giles was awoken from a sound sleep by the shrill ring of the telephone. Wearily he rolled over and nearly fell out of the bed, trying to answer the bloody thing. Finally at the fourth ring he was able to say: "Hello? This is Rupert Giles, speaking. Do you have any idea what time it is?"
"Hey, G-Man. It's Xander. Look, I'm sorry for calling you when I know it's like, super late over there in Jolly Old England, but this is kinda important so-"
Giles sighed. "Xander, is there a point to this rather expensive phone call or do you wish to chat?" The Watcher asked tiredly.
"Point? Oh yeah. We did it, Giles, we brought Buffy back. Only she's not running 100%." The young man told his friend.
The Watcher sighed again, only this time it was the sigh of a man with the weight of the world on his shoulders.
"Brought back?" He asked, then he realized what Xander meant: "You brought Buffy back from the dead?"
"Yeah, well I didn't do it by myself," Xander confessed. "It was mostly Willow. Anyway, we need you Giles. Buffy barely talks to any of us and I think you're the only one who can reach her, I mean really reach her. So will you come home?"
"I'll be on the first flight, once it's light." Giles promised.
"Great! I'll let everyone know you're coming. What time do you want me to pick you up?" The young man asked.
"I'll let you know, once I've booked the flight, all right Xander?"
Xander let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding. "All right." For a second there was complete silence, then Xander said: "Giles, I know we made a lot of mistakes but I want to say: "Thank you for always being there even when I know some of us didn't deserve it."
It took a minute for Giles to compose himself but once he did, he smiled and said: "You're welcome, Xander. Now I think we should end this phone call, yes? I'd hate to see Buffy's face once she sees the bill." The Watcher said with a light chuckle.
"Don't worry Giles, I went and got one of those international phone cards, so the bill won't be too bad I hope." Xander told the older man.
"Well, that's good to know." Giles said, all the while trying not to yawn. "I'll see you soon, Xander and thank you."
"Yeah, g'night Giles. Talk to you soon."
When Rupert Giles went back to bed, it was with a much lighter heart. For he knew that his Slayer was alive and that she needed him.
The End.
