Thank you for your kind comments! Giles' strength, courage and resilience are definitely major draws for the Giles-love for me as well (as if that wasn't screamingly evident already from the story! :-) ). I'm very glad you gave the story a chance!
As to sending him off to Wesley - I totally love it!! ;-) And now thanks to you :-) , I am being beset by evil plot bunnies that show me the merits of Angel, or Giles and Angel, showing up on Wesley's doorstep and informing him of a watcherly duty he wasn't expecting! 8-) And Giles will have to stay and "watch" of course, because that's what Watchers do! Voyeur!Giles - yea!
Or, carefully trying to come back to my senses, I'll have to take the position that Faith is in reality out of commission in a coma at this time, and Wes has been fired from the Watcher's council for incompetence. That leaves Buffy as the only active Slayer - one who has rejected the authority of the Council. Despite what the Council thinks of as their own control over the Slayer Biz, Wesley was never "really" Buffy's Watcher in regard to what we all tend to refer to in fannon as the "Watcher-Slayer bond." There is something spiritual/mystical that forms between Buffy and Giles that is beyond the reach of the Council, or perhaps even their own control.
So, if Buffy is only ever bonded to Giles, and if she's the official "reigning slayer," then Giles is still on the hook for cure duty! Nice try, Giles - but you're stuck! :-)
