This story went through a number of evolutions, and at one time I did have Buffy coming in on them at the end, or at least confronting Giles over the bite marks on his throat. She's a smart girl, and I think she could have easily guessed what happened (well, at least the feeding part :-) ). In the end, though, I decided the story was really about Giles and Angel, and in actuality, really about Giles' courage and compassion, and so the Buffster got the axe. I wanted to end the story with Giles and Angel parting company with the beginnings of a new working relationship.
Not that I wouldn't enjoy reading Buffy coming in on her Watcher and vampire boyfriend going at it hot and heavy as well! 8-)
